Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Touch Screen To Start" appears on the lower screen, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen or presses the Start button.
4. If this is the first time the game has been played, a profile must be created.
4a. A default profile name (the name of the Nintendo DS system the game is in) will be provided.
4b. To add a character, just tap its button on the on-screen keyboard.
4c. Characters can be deleted by tapping the arrow in the top right corner of the on-screen keyboard.
4d. To swap between standard and alternate characters, tap the button in the lower left corner of the on-screen keyboard.
4e. To accept the entry as is, tap the word "Accept" near the bottom right corner of the lower screen or press the "A" button.
Downloading
1. On the main menu, the far left icon ("World Tour") is highlighted.
2. Tap the group of right arrows three times (or press right on the direction pad three times) to highlight the "Multiplayer" option.
3. Tap the "Multiplayer" icon (the two red and white cars) or press the "A" button.
4. On the Multiplayer meny, the far left icon ("Multi Card Play") is highlighted.
5. Tap the group of right arrows once (or press right on the direction pad once) to highlight the "Single Card Play" option.
6. Tap the "Single Card Play" icon (a single white card with a blue outline) or press the "A" button.
7. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
8. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
9. When the graphic bar appears saying "Race Driver: Create and Race", the guests tap on it.
10. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
11. When all connected guests' initial download is complete, "Accept" will appear in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
12. The host taps "Accept" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen or presses the "A" button.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host will set up the list of tracks to race on and in what order...
1a. The list will start out with one track (Hockenheim) on the list (it will be highlighted in blue).
1b. To change the highlighted track to a different track, press right or left on the direction pad (arrows by the track's name will indicate which ways are possible).
1c. To add another track to the list, press down on the direction pad (the list can set up as many as 14 races).
1d. To remove the highlighted track from the list, press the "X" button (or tap "Delete" near the top right corner of the lower screen).
1e. When the list is set as desired, the host presses the "A" button (ot taps "Accept" near the bottom right corner of the lower screen).
2. The host will set the difficulty by pressing left or right on the direction pad (Normal/the default or Pro).
3. The host presses down on the direction pad to highlight Grid Position (it's highlighted when the left and right arrows appear on the same level).
4. The host will select the human players' Grid Position within the pack by pressing left or right on the direction pad (Front/the default, Middle, or Rear).
5. The host presses down on the direction pad to highlight Race Length (it's highlighted when the left and right arrows appear on the same level).
6. The host will select the Race Length by pressing left or right on the direction pad (3 Laps/the default, 2 Laps, or 1 Lap).
7. When these options are al set as desired, the host presses the "A" button (ot taps "Accept" near the bottom right corner of the lower screen).
8. Each player selects their car by pressing left and right on the direction pad until the selected car/driver is highlighted (the car is shown on the upper screen).
9. To select the highlighted car, players press the "A" button or tap "Accept" near the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
9a. Each car/driver can only be selected by one player; when it is selected, it is removed from the other players' lists.
9b. All cars will drive similarly without any major advantages or disadvantes.
10. When all players have selected their cars/drivers, the final download portion will begin and then the race will start.
Game Controls / How To Play
Automatic Gearshift (guests use Automatic, the host's default is Automatic)
1. Steer: Press left or right on the direction.
2. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
3. Break: Press the "B" button.
4. Reverse: Press and hold the "B" button when stopped.
5. Handbreak: Press the "Y" button.
6. Rear View: Press the "X" or "L" or "R" button.
7. Change Camera: Press the Select button.
NOTE: Options include above and behind the car (default), in the driver's seat, and right in front of the car.
8. Pause Game: Press the Start button.
Manual Gearshift (the host can switch to manual via the "Options" icon on the game's main menu before the download begins)
1. Steer: Press left or right on the direction.
2. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
3. Shift Up: Press the "R" button.
4. Shift Down: Press the "L" button.
5. Break: Press the "B" button.
6. Reverse: Shift down, past Neutral, to Reverse and then accelerate by pressing the "A" button.
7. Handbreak: Press the "Y" button.
8. Rear View: Press the "X" button.
9. Change Camera: Press the Select button.
NOTE: Options include above and behind the car (default), in the driver's seat, and right in front of the car.
10. Pause Game: Press the Start button.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the race is displayed.
2. On the upper screen, your current lap number is displayed in the top left corner.
3. On the upper screen, your current position is displayed in the top left corner beneath your current lap number.
4. On the upper screen, your current race time (so far) is displayed in the top right corner.
5. On the upper screen, your current lap time (so far) is displayed in the top right corner, beneath your current race time.
6. On the upper screen, your current RPMs and speed (MPH) are displayed in the bottom right corner.
7. On the lower screen, the race map (highlighting where your car is currently at) is displayed.
8. On the lower screen, your car is displayed as a red dot.
9. On the lower screen, the lead car (if it is not you) is displayed as a yellow dot.
10. On the lower screen, other cars are displayed as blue dots.
Overall Goals
2. Don't crash into any barriers.
3. Block other cars from passng.
